FAQ

Q.

How long does it take to review a new trademark application in Taiwan?

A.
Typically, it takes about 8 months. However, if your case qualifies for expedited processing, the review time can be shortened by 2 to 3 months. In other words, with our assistance, you may receive the review results within 5 to 6 months.
Q.

How long does it take to complete a trademark renewal?

A.
It usually takes about 2 months to complete.
Q.

Does Taiwan use the Nice Classification for trademarks?

A.
Yes, Taiwan's trademark classification is divided into classes 1 through 45, which is the same as the Nice Classification.
➤ Taiwan allows for thousands more product and service names than those listed in the Nice Classification.

For example, "beef noodle soup" is unique to Taiwan.
Q.

I would like to entrust you with handling a trademark renewal in Taiwan. What documents do I need to prepare?

A.
You will need to sign a Power of Attorney (POA), which we will prepare. If you have previously entrusted us with this trademark, you only need to provide us with the trademark registration number.
Q.

Must the designated goods/services names in Taiwan follow the standardized names? My product is very unique; can I create my own product name?

A.
The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) can accept non-standardized names. However, it is inevitable that the review time for unique names will be longer.
